Garry Attrill Bio

Garry Attrill is a 'AAA' Rated PGA Teaching Professional with Level 3 Accreditation with the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.

Garry Attrill is a 'Local' to the Geelong region. He first began playing golf as a 13 y/o junior member at East Geelong Golf Club in 1985. As an amatuer, Garry played in the Australian Junior Amateur Championships twice and represented the GDGA with success in both Junior and Senior representative teams.

Garry first began work in a Geelong Golf Retail store while still at school. Here he was fortunate to work for PGA Golf Professional, Alan Schenk. This experience was influential in his decision to pursue a career as a Golf Professional.

At the age of 19, Garry began a Golf Professional Traineeship at the Anglesea GC under Club Professional Ian Dodgshun. The summer of 1992 was his first introduction to Teaching Golf, initially with Junior clinics and Ladies beginner clinics. He completed the final year of his Golf Traineeship in 1995 at the Barwon Heads GC with Professional Martin Stolz. Garry graduated from the PGA Academy of Golf with a 'Diploma in Professional Golf'.

In October 1995, Garry began playing Golf full time as a Touring Professional. Garry was to have some sucess over the next two and a half years, thoroughly enjoying the experience.

In April 1998, Garry commenced a Club Professional position at the Queenscliff Golf Club. After more than 8 years in that position, he wanted a change from daily Golf Club Pro-shop operations. Garry had a real passion to Teach Golf and decided to pursue a full time Teaching career.

Garry commenced a full time Teaching position in January 2007 at the 13th Beach Golf Academy with Head Teaching Professional Scott Smith. Garry was a member at 13th Beach and believed the Golf Academy and Driving Range facilities were truly world class.

A short time later, Scott and Garry together formed a partnership, now known as 'SMITH ATTRILL GOLF ACADEMY'.

With an ever increasing reputation and profile as a Golf Coach, Garry has been a contributing editor for 'Golf Australia Magazine' publication since 2009.
