Scott Smith is a 'AAA' Rated PGA Teaching Professional with Level 3 Accreditation with the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. Scott Smith has been a local in the Geelong region for the past 25 years. He first started playing golf at the age of 12 at the Torquay Golf Club. As an amateur, Scott represented both junior and senior GDGA representative teams and had numerous successful amateur tournaments. After finishing VCE, Scott left Geelong heading north for Cairns to work in the Golf industry at Paradise Palms Golf Course. A short time later, having been inspired by the Club Professional, Scott realised his real passion was to become a Teaching Professional. John Van Der Veen offered Scott the opportunity to commence his Golf Professional Traineeship at Torquay Golf Club in 1997. Over the next 3 years Scott was introduced to Coaching golfers of all skill levels. Scott was so passionate about Teaching Golf, his future was clear.
On completion of his Professional Golf Traineeship, Scott was awarded a 'Diploma in Professional Golf' from the PGA Academy of Golf. Immediately, Scott was successful with his application for a Golf Coaching position at Orchid Country Club in Singapore, chosen over several outstanding candidates. After 10 months in Singapore, Scott was heading for home having accepted a position as the Head Professional at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links. Scott arrived in Australia for the opening of 13th Beach Golf Links in December 2001. Scott was about to commence his Golf Coaching business at a brand new golf club without a client on his books, a card table as a desk and a home made black box to shelter his computer from the elements. The Golf Academy and Driving Range at Thirteenth Beach has now grown to service almost one thousand Golf Club Members and it's many visitors. In 2007, former Queenscliff Golf Club Professional Garry Attrill joined the team. Scott and Garry's passion for coaching led them into a Business Partnership during 2007. Trading as 'SMITH ATTRILL GOLF ACADEMY'. Scott's ever increasing reputation and profile as a Golf Coach has led him to feature as a PGA Guest Editor for the magazine publication 'Golf Australia'.
